The first thing that popped into my mind was how many things in our lives are controlled by electricity and how much we take it for granted until we don't have it. I think of the people in Puerto Rico who still don't have electricity from Hurricane Irma last year! They have had to adapt to a whole new way to live their lives. We were without it four days and I thought that was pretty bad.
Yesterday morning we had several short little bursts of showers. I was sitting inside at the table and saw that when the sun came out after each little shower, everything was foggy and glowing. The patio screen I was shooting through made an excellent diffusing filter and I kept noticing one of the hanging pots sparkling in the sun like it was filled with pink and green jewels! It looked like it was plugged into electricity! I was about 70 feet away and only when I was looking through the lens could I see the drips of water coming down from nearby palm fronds. I shot in burst mode with my longest lens, hoping to catch a few of the drops falling.
