the oasis . . .

The hurricane is over for us, but it has left many reminders so that we'll remember for a long time.

Every road is piled high at the curb with trees, branches and debris. The paper said this morning it will probably be six weeks until it is all picked up. There are still a few homes that don't have their power back on yet.

It seems that with everyone you meet, one of the first things they ask is how did you make out?

We had a gallery meeting last night and before and after the meeting that seemed to be the main topic.

Most of the restaurants haven't opened back up yet on the island. Our little group that usually goes out after the monthly meetings had a hard time finding a place, but we ended up at this little Mexican dive at about 8:00. Way too late for me to eat supper, but I was hungry and ordered the black bean nachos. They were not very good and I woke up soon after I fell asleep with horrible heartburn. I was sick rest of night and got up early and decided that as long as I was up I should go out photographing. I have hardly left this house it seems in such a long, long time.

I thought about going to the Oasis I found last year after a big storm. A low area that filled up with water and a fallen tree that provided a great spot for birds. I got out my Infrared camera and used it there and most of the other places I stopped.

Someone said tomorrow is the first day of autumn and I thought....where did the summer go.
