fishing shanty on the Suwannee

Today I decided to work a little bit on the pictures I took on the trip to Suwannee earlier this year with Debra. Here is one of a well-known little fishing shanty and boat dock. From what I heard, it is popular among photographers and painters. I almost didn't take my Infrared camera with me on the boat that day, but at the last minute I grabbed it and put it in my pocket. I'm glad I did, because it definitely shows a mood that suits it well, I think. I got some regular color pictures of it, too, but I have a feeling the IR ones will be my favorites.

Last night we went out to a birthday dinner for our friend Susan H. The restaurant we went to is called Mad Fish Grill in Sarasota. We were a small group, only seven of us, and we were seated in a cozy corner off from the rest of the diners. I had heard of it before, but never been there. It actually used to be a bank and after we found that out, we started looking around and yes, it certainly could have been a bank just from the way it was laid out and divided. We eventually were trying to figure out where the vault had been, and some of us even got up, looked around a bit and thought we'd found it. So when the waitress came back, we asked her if we were right about the vault. She said no, . . . that we were actually seated in the vault. That was our cozy little corner.

We all agreed that we would go there again. The food and service were excellent. I had a wedge salad, a seafood puff pastry pie and fresh grilled seasonal veggies. The pie was bursting with all kinds of seafood and some tiny mushrooms.
