Another big rain . . .
I went to the grocery store about 4 p.m. today. As I left the house, Pete looked at the radar and said I had about an hour before the rain would get here. We only live about 10 blocks from the store, but I got hit with a few big drops as I was walking across the parking lot. I hadn’t been inside for than a minute when I heard this loud roaring and rumbling sound like the roof was caving in. Everyone was talking and shouting to each other about the “monsoon” outside. I went to the front of the store and looked outside. It was raining so hard, I couldn’t see but a few feet beyond the doors.
I took my time and leisurely shopped for almost an hour and by that time it had almost stopped. BUT when I went to go to my car I saw the parking lot was flooded and my car was kind of right in the middle of it all with water half way up the wheels. I had on old shoes, so I waded in, got my car loaded and slowly made my way through the parking lot to higher ground and drove home. I wish I had, but never even thought to take a picture of the flooded parking lot, I was just concentrating on getting out of there and home. Pete was waiting on my phone call in case I needed help.
So now the ground is pretty well saturated from two days of this. It is supposed to rain again tonight and clear up tomorrow.
I didn’t want to mix this one in with the pictures from last night because it was too cool and I thought it needed to be in a post by itself. I took this with Little Red and it shows the drops hitting and splashing on the patio, creating a neat effect . . .
