Pete and I are both dead tired. Pete mowed, edged & whippersnippered, then raked it all up, plus painted some trim around the back patio, too. This afternoon I cleaned out and painted all the old brown pots from last year. Here they are hanging to dry in the bare frangi panni (plumeria) tree.
Then I went to work weeding and cleaning out the back raised garden that we put in last year. I didn’t get too far with it. I found out the guys that come and fertilize our yard have been throwing fertilizer up in the raised mounds, too. My plants are becoming monster succulents. They are huge and overflowing the boundaries of the garden. These are the ones I just planted last summer and they should never be this big. At first I thought it was because they were now all in the sun, but then I found out about the fertilizer every other month! Yikes! They are like giants. We are going to have to tell them to stop fertilizing the mounds-pronto.
Also, here is a new orchid bloom…a Vanda. It is a gorgeous deep red color. It is the one that didn’t bloom for years and years, then last year it finally did and now this year it is big and beautiful again. It is just bare roots in one of those sieve-like baskets, no bark or sphagnum moss. Roots hanging down all over the place.
Well, Pete is back with our Subway sandwiches.
