on the hunt - 206

Jul 26, 2013 22:06

I must use my imagination to try and create in my mind what this little moth must have looked like . . . whole and in life.

This morning I found a single wing in the new birdbath that we recently placed among the frangipani, near the lamp post and green bench. All sorts of winged creatures who meet their demise during the night and early morning hours end up there.

Sometimes they are still fluttering and I save them. But for this one it was the final resting place of its short life. It was beyond saving, so all I could do was photograph --- even in death --- its beauty.

Here is an untouched photo of what must have been a stunning moth with shimmering coppery wings with a little touch of green iridescence on the outer edges.

I then walked around the garden and soon a bird flew close, landed on a branch of frangipani and dropped something in the birdbath. I went over to inspect and there was a snail shell resting on the bottom.

one more . . .

(Craziness again on the LJ tonight. Things haven't been right here for me in several days.)
