Pete and I went to the Palma Sola Boat Basin and stood on the bridge facing west just before sundown hoping to see some of the bats I’ve been hearing about that live under the bridge. Just like the story of Dracula, hundreds and hundreds came flying out from under the bridge moments after the sun disappeared below the horizon, but they were so fast and my camera just could not catch even one of them in any kind of detail. As they came flying out, they were only about 10 feet from me, flying out from below where I was standing. I had my camera on ISO 3200, and shutter speed at 60th of a second, but I only got one shot where they even showed up and that is the one of many at a distance, but you wouldn’t even know they were bats if I didn’t tell you. They were so fast, that even with the naked eye they were hard to see any details. Anyway, I did get some nice sunset pictures, so it was worth it all. There’s always something to see .….
