Well done! Almost like a beautiful abstract of textures and patterns.

Thank you! These birds, and so many others are outstanding during the mating season transformed into all their "feather finery." Ha! I can hardly believe I said that, but when sahlah said "avian supermodel" I suddenly thought of it.

What a beauty - like an avian super-model. :)

Oh, I love that term, "avian super-model." You just helped me title the photo. Thank you! Happy Sunday!

Terrifying!!! Looks like one of thagirion's paintings! Is that a display?

Oh, you see terrifying, I see graceful beauty . . . interesting! It is a picture of a real live bird that I took recently at Venice Rookery. Their (both male and female) breeding plumage/colors are spectacular in both sexes. The torquoise/lime color of their eye rings fade somewhat during the rest of the year and overall they become more drab. But I do see where it could look like one of thagirion's creations.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't a striking and beautiful photo - it certainly is!!

No need to be sorry, there's so many ways we all we see things. Everyone's eye is different. :))

But I might have misunderstoond you when you asked if that was a display. I thought you meant was it a display of animal statues or fake stuffed birds, and I think you might have meant was that a display that they put on for their mate. This is mostly how they look all the time during mating season, but I think in order to show off all their striking feathers, they do puff them out a bit for effect.
