Poor little Skipper . . .

Jul 02, 2012 10:27

I rarely see or get to photograph butterflies out on the Lotus or Lily Pads down at the pond. They fly over, but never seem to want to land on them. But yesterday I saw a little Skipper out there, he landed on the pod of the lotus and I got a few shots of it.

Then, a quick trip down there this morning and something hanging and swinging in the breeze under one of the Lotus caught my eye. It was a little Skipper. I watched it for a long time, but no movement, no wings fluttering, just hanging there by his proboscis. It was too far out for me to reach it, but if I had seen it fluttering and showing any signs of life at all, I would have gotten a long stick and tried to save it.

Then this is what I saw this morning. I wondered if it was the same one I saw yesterday . . .
