feast or famine~~night & day~~drought or rain

Drought or rain . . .
Yesterday we had a big storm go through here in the afternoon. I thought we were getting a tornado with such high winds and heavy, heavy rains. It all came without much warning and lasted for about two hours! Afterward, everyone’s yards around here were full of debris, tree limbs, and stuff from other people’s yards, etc. But no real damage-just a lot of clean up to do. Everything was drying up around here and we really did need the rain badly. The spring is very dry here and our rains really won't start for about another month. June 1 marked the beginning of our Hurricane Season and it goes until November 1.

Feast or famine . . .
You all know Pete got a job recently. Not exactly one he would have chosen for himself, but we were to the place where you took what you could get. Yesterday he got a call “out of the blue” from a place he’d applied to last year! They knew him well from when he worked on the fire department and wanted to hire him, but just didn’t have any openings at that time. Well, they want him to start asap. So, he is giving his two-week notice at Publix this morning. It's a warehouse/delivery job, and a little further to drive to work, but it pays more money. Unbelievable how things happen.

Night & day . . .
I got this idea from my sister egg_shell She sent her message to me a few days ago from her steamed up bathroom mirror. So this one is for you, little sister.

And then this morning when I got up, the sun was shining so brightly through the sliding glass door blinds and creating such beautiful shadows and reflections, I had to take a couple pictures.

I pulled the blinds back so you can better see the stained glass window that hangs on the left side.

This is one of the first windows I ever made almost 20 years ago. I have had many offers to buy it over the years, but I have just never been able to let it go.

Townie news . . .
Oh, and I got out and rode my borrowed Townie this morning up and down the block five times. The second time around I ventured out onto 17th Ave. (main road) and went off the curb and almost fell into traffic. It sure put the fear in me, but I was able to right myself, turn around and get back on my own little street for the rest of the time. I think I'll stick to my familiar cul-de-sac dead-end street where there is no traffic until I feel more sure of myself.
And, guess what else . . . my next door neighbor just came over, said she saw me riding this morning and told me she has a Townie, too!
