No King Cake for me
I was thrilled to see a Mardi Gras King Cake at the grocery store today. Partly because I've been snowbound nearly all week and so was thrilled to see anything other than the inside of my house, but mostly because I've never even seen a King Cake before, Maryland being rather far from New Orleans. On further inspection, though, I saw that the baby that is supposed to be hidden inside the cake was taped to the inside of the box, because Heaven forbid that a store should put a swallowing hazard inside a cake, even though there was a big warning label on the box. What was I supposed to do, jam the baby inside the cake and then forget where I put it?
Needless to say, I did not purchase the cake.
