I gotta be honest, I have a motive for updating this other than being sociable.
I have this Journalism assignment where I have to log all the media (with a focus on Journalism and Communication since that's the course) I consume and produce. It's basically a massive and confusing pain in the ass since my media usage has completely changed in the last two weeks. Since the only unlimited internet access I get is through the public apartment computers (of which there are two... Awesome.) and anyone can just walk past and see what you're up to, I've been reluctant to use them for anything other than checking my student email. So I'm no longer producing and using as much online media as I used to and I used to live on it. So this assignment is all confusing since my media usage is only based upon my very limited access to the internet and little money for newspapers and is pretty much dependant on free-to-air television. But that doesn't sound like an answer I could get a 7 for.
But anywhoooooooo. I have been flicking through my flist but I haven't really had a chance to thoroughly read any of your posts since I'm paranoid that people are constantly looking over my shoulder and I'd hate to think that anything personal you write could be read by some random due to my readings. The lobby is quite empty now so it's okay for the moment. And if anyone's going to spy on someone's computer activities, they're going to look over the shoulder of the international student (I think he may be Saudi Arabian) beside me since he's watching some kind of music video on YouTube. That's a lot more interesting.
I feel like I should be writing about something more interesting. Here's a question for you: Would you consider blog writing to a form of journalism? Or is it merely communication? What about contributions to communities? I have my own theories but I would be interested to see how you guys look at it. I say that because I don't want you to think I'm begging for help with the assignment but rather because I'm interested in it from a story point of view (which is a later assignment).
I promise I'll post about something other than my boring university life next time and give you a reason to remain my friend. <3
