Hexagons

The Burning Man project I mentioned earlier requires a grid of LEDs. I want to avoid square grid units because I want something that had an inherent radial pattern. Research reveals that a hexagon is the regular polygon with the most sides that can be tiles without gaps between the units. Also the length of the internal diagonals are multiples of the length of a side, making size estimations very easy.

If I get it right, the effect should be like an endless series of ripples from a central point, or travelling into a tunnel.
