Yucky Marketing

I want to try Cinnabon rolls from the grocery store. But when I read the instructions I got totally grossed out. This sort of thing happens sometimes, the way a food is marketed turns me off. I guess I should just let it go, but I'm still just not sure I can buy these after reading that ( Read more... )

Shampoo is really bad in America too. I looked at every bottle of shampoo in the store once and I couldn't find a single bottle that was for normal, healthy hair. Apparently I'm the only one whose hair doesn't have something wrong with it.

Here in America there are tons of gullible people who simply believe anything they're told as long as it's simple enough for them to understand the idea, so I guess that marketing works on them.

It irks me to buy a product from someone who I feel is insulting my intelligence. I guess it's important to remember that marketing like that is targeted (and target audience is literally the jargon used) at someone else.

And also it's just another example of how like Spock, I have to keep reminding myself to stop expecting people to make sense. On the one hand they may have made a good product, but then they go and ruin it with that lame stuff they put in the instructions. It's this continual paradox that I'm still not used to of how sometimes people make sense and can have very impressive intelligence, except for when we don't.
