*sigh*cry*whine* (aka...doin it wrong)

Ok, I usually try to keep it positive here on the blog, but today I am going to vent. I just discovered my kiln overfired yesterday. It was filled with beads for orders, most of which are completely ruined now. This is probably 4 work sessions down the drain, it was two bowls full of beads, which are mostly unusable now. In the picture above, there are two terra cotta bowls. The one on the left is what it should look like, the one on the right is the overfired one. It melted and looks like a chocolate pancake. See how it melted over the side of the kiln shelf? *sigh*

An overfired bisque kiln means that the beads are no longer porous, so they cannot easily accept glaze. There are a few tricks, so I will salvage what I can, but it takes so much longer and the results are unstable, at best, so I am going to have to start over. And I am going out of town this weekend, so I will have to start to notify customers that orders will have to be delayed. I am sure they will understand, but it makes me feel terrible, because I think I look unprofessional and my customers are so great and patient with me, I hate to disappoint. *cry*

To make the start of my week even better, I discovered that my old fridge is dying, so I need to get a new one. Gotta love those random and sudden large expenses when you are a home owner *whine*

Time to look on the bright side, finish what I can, get started on starting over, and look forward to having a good weekend...

sigh, home life, overfired, kiln disasters, vent, studio life
