Friday was a sad day. I never know what to say at times like these but I can hardly believe it's been two years already.
Heath was a beautiful guy with an amazing talent and he was taken from this world too soon. He left behind a vast number of brilliant films that he was live on through but it will never really be the same. Out of all the films I have seen with him in (or in fact, any film that I have ever seen), Brokeback Mountain affected me the most. I understand many other people were amazed by the beauty of the movie and how sensitively and emotionally Heath portrayed Ennis Del Mar and I can never get through the whole film without crying. It took my breath away the first time I watched it (and it stil does) and for ages after, I couldn't get my mind off of the tragic story of Ennis and Jack. I understand many other people felt the same way.
And watching the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus recently had a similar affect. There was something undescribably beautiful and enchanting portrayed upon the screen and I had never seen anything like it. It felt magical and like every emotion had been weaved into the images before my eyes. I left the cinema feeling both drained and elated. I didn't understand how something could be portrayed like that but it felt strange to question it because a film is meant to make you feel involved and emotional.
Then there was of course the Dark Knight where he acted as the Joker so frighteningly realistically and literally stole the film. I haven't seen anything like his performance there either and to say he was incredible is an understatement. And before that there was Jacob Grimm in the Brothers Grimm, Casanova, William Thatcher in a Knight's Tale...The list goes on. I wish it would keep going on from the present day but unfortunately, that's not to be.
There was no other actor like Heath Ledger. He was incredibly talented and had a beautiful personality too. He had an amazing sense of honesty and care about him which was hard to match.
RIP Heath Ledger. Dearly missed.
