Welcome to Uncle Sam's Boat tour

My Dad came up Friday to get me in Rochester and he ended up staying the night. He went golfing with my brother and thats good because they needed to spend some time together because my brother was pissed at him. So Sat morning got up at like 6 in the morning and showered and packed my shit up. My Dad and I left at 7:30 to head on a 3 hour drive to the Thousand islands. Not even a month ago I had seen a show about castles in the U.S. on the travel channel and I talked about Boldt Castle. So my Dad made reservations and we went to go see it. We got to Alexandria Bay around 10:30 so we located the hotel but couldn't check in so we went to go get out boat tickets. We decided to do the two castle tour which was an hour boat ride to Dark island to see Singer Castle then over to heart Island to see Boldt Castle. So we had time to kill so we walked around then went on a wild goose chase to find batteries for my camera, they needed Cr2 lithium ones so we ended up going to like 5 different stores. Don't go to Kinney's Pharmacy because they suck and don't have them. Anyways so we went back to the Bay and had some lunch at the Admiral's Inn, where some like Russian or german dude was on his cell phone being really loud and yelling at it, my dad kept saying to me he's a terrorist I was like dad stop you're gonna get us killed. So we went and got on the boat, I got a little queesy it was hott there was barely air flow and the tour guide was bugging the shit out of me. So we arrived at Singer Castle which is beautiful, but the tour was like 40 minutes nad they rushed you through it. I guess they shot at the castle for the movie The Skulls, now I need to go back and watch it again to see for sure. Anyways we got back on the boat and headed over to Boldt castle where I really wanted to be. I was getting nervous because it was like 5:30 and the Castle closed at 7:30 when the last boat left and I wanted to be there for awhile, it's a self guided tour so you can stay however long. I loved Boldt more then Singer even though it wasn't completed. It's soo sad because it's so beautiful and was never finished. George Boldt built it for his wife because he loved her and when she died he called off the workers and never returned to the Island. The 2nd floors and up arent done and the years and people have taken its toll. I can't understand how people could deface such a beautiful place. It was just beautiful, there is a lot of heart motif or heart shaped things in the architecture of the castle. I was sad to go. Our hotel was right on the waterfront and from the balcony you can see Heart Island. I want to go back and picnic there and check on the reconstruction. Go if you can its beautiful. That was the highlight of my summer, next up a roadtrip to see Mal with Lisa, this ought to be very interesting! Well I'm hungry and it's time for dinner I'm off to eat and read Harry Potter, I'm doubly stoked.
