hubble

i was reading an article today about the newest spiral galaxy photographed by the hubble telescope. it's called the pinwheel galaxy and it's gi-normous in that it's way larger than our milky way.

here's the kicker, the light emitted from this galaxy was emitted a long time ago. during our miocene period when huge mammals were evolving on earth, like the mastadon. Miocene Link

the picture of the pinwheel galaxy taken by hubble looks as it does millions of years ago. is this what people mean when they talk about time continuum? gotta google it.

so, if we blew ourselves up tomorrow, meaning the earth was destroyed or our galaxy for that matter. the light we emitted might not reach a similar far off galaxy for millions, billions of years.

and if the universe is expanding then our presence would always be felt in the universe. we would never die because our light/energy would always be seen from some spot or point in the universe.

do we die? no, right?
