Continued from
here It had been such a lovely day so far, minus the Doctor being shot at and the odd tear here and there, things were actually going very well indeed. They had gotten photographs taken in a booth, as well as a camera each that they could get developed in an hour, seen a small amount of Buckingham palace. Rose had purchased a small TARDIS from the gift shop so she could play show and tell when she was older, or so she said, they had been to the flat she was going to move into, had chips and were now back on their way 'home'.
Back to where Jackie probably lay waiting. Fingers crossed she wasn't.
It was early evening and as they walked towards the Torchwood parking area, Rose ordered food that would be suitable for a picnic and knew it would be there before they had to head out to watch the sky at 8pm. She liked the local shops around here, they all seemed to deliver.
As she drove she kept glancing over at the Doctor, she wanted to reach out and hold his hand, to lay her own on his thigh, anything but have this distance between them, but there was nothing she could do about it, not with the roads around here.
Finally she headed up the long dive way, her house looming before them, and glanced over at the Doctor. She wanted to very much for her mother not to yell at him, it wold be nice if she actually accepted him being there and could see how happy his presence made Rose. But maybe she was asking too much. Car parked, Rose slid out of the drivers seat with her things and waited for the Doctor, they would face the front line together.
