From Alice in Wonderland:
Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Rose stood in London’s Torchwood Tower with her mother, the man who was a father but wasn’t as he was from another version of Earth, Mickey Smith, Jake Simmons and a couple of other people from the other Earth the Doctor, Mickey and Rose once visited. And of course the Doctor was there too. The planet was going to hell, or at least that was how it felt. Two rising powers fighting it out to take control of this ‘primitive’ planet, The Dalek’s and the Cybermen, both wanting to beat the other, both wanting to destroy mankind. But the Doctor wouldn’t’ let it, oh no, when did he ever?

They were there, all of them, ready to give their lives should the need arise, well all of them apart from Rose’s mum. The Doctor had come up with a plan, one that would save the Earth and get those who had moved between worlds caught in the crossfire, he told those who would be sucked into the voice to go now, to cross through to the other world and Jackie told Rose it was time to go.

Rose didn’t want to; she’d spent a lifetime of nineteen years with her mother, a life that she had left behind. Now she lived with the Doctor, she wanted to, he did everything to save this stupid planet and so many others and he did it alone. Well not any more, she’d do it with him. At least that was what she believed. When he put the device around her neck and they all teleported into the other world Rose felt her heart skin. How could he do this to her? How could he make her mind up for her? She knew where she wanted to be and it was by his side, not to see him again would be too much. Rose didn’t even hesitate like she would have so many times before in her life. That was the one thing that was different with the Doctor. With him she was certain of the things she wanted. At every other juncture in her life she hadn’t known where she wanted to go.

As she pressed the button on the teleportation device she knew that it was him she wanted to be with.
