Our internet is gone at the apartment, just one part of a slow shutdown of our utilities as we start packing up and preparing to move out. But, there's always CIU to use for my internetting purposes. "Is 'internetting' a word?", you ask. I say, "It is now."
So I sat in the editing room this morning and browsed my portable hard drive, which contains all of my film work to date (I think - not counting anything I filmed for someone else). And, I have to say - I suck. No, seriously. I'm okay at editing, but I despise my film work, though the problems I picked out were camera-related more than camera operator related. Viewfinders and an Auto-Focus-That-Will-Not-Die on XL-1's suck. Let no one tell you any different. I am unhappy with anything I've ever done, save for that summer movies music video. That was pretty awesome. My version, anyways. The hacked and butchered edit that showed up in the Refocus episode was horrendous (sorry to anyone that was charged with doing that - I loved the original cut and it was very specific so anything else falls short to me).
But I'm currently in doubt mode. I have to admit a certain sadness this week, related to several subjects. Writing for book 1 is progressing well enough but I keep feeling like this will be a colossal waste of time in the end. I'll end up flipping burgers in a crummy one bedroom apartment forever, not telling stories and talking about storytelling and experiencing the things in life that I love to see other people go through.
But hey - nobody wants to hear that crap. *cheesy thumbs up*
Love you, friends. Bye.
