Jane and I stopped by Portland on our way to Seattle and Becca showed us around.
Portland is such a cool town, or is it city?
So many hippies, liberals, greenness, funky little boutiques, coffee shops. So much culture. People sat outside of every restaurant and enjoyed their meals and almost everyone had a dog. I tired bubble tea for the first time and loved it.
Becca showed us around downtown a little and then we went over to Hawthorne, which is where most of the hippies, musicians, and punk rocker kids roam the streets. I bought three bumper stickers that read: “Begin Within,” “The Meaning of Life is to Live It,” and “Vegetarian For Life.” They are now hanging up in my room.
It seems like summer here in Redlands now. The sun feels so amazing and yesterday I went for a run outside and when I ran by the blooming trees, the scent of all those flowers was one of the best smells I have ever experienced. Like finally summer is rounding the bend again and I can breathe in the green grass and the clear air and feel the sun on my face. I feel so much happier in the summer, especially when I can wake up and pull back my blind and see blue sky and sunshine, rather then an overcast sky and puddles lining the sidewalk. So hopefully, the weather will now stay so wonderful.
