“Yeay! Ken, Yuki; you guys finally came!” tetsu brightened as he sees his two friends through the door.

“Of course, we come, we’d be heartless bastards if we didn’t” Ken replied, carrying the presents the staff wanted to give to tetsu along with some sweets and snacks they all know the bassist would love to munch on.

“Sorry it took us a long time to come here!” Yuki exclaimed, holding a box of half eaten Pocky in his hand, and was ready to chomp on his next stick when the guitarist intervened.

“Hey, idiot! Those are for tetsu!” Ken grabbed the red box from his- now frowning- friend’s hand. “See! There’s not enough left for tetsu!”

“That’s okay, ken!” tetsu laughed, enjoying the squabble before him. This was way better than having to count the days before his body can fully heal and he can finally jump out of this boring hospital. As he chuckled heartily, a quick jab of pain shot through his chest and within minutes his small fits of giggles stopped abruptly.

Even when Ken and Yuki were busy with their petty argument, it didn’t slip their eyes that their leaver was hurting.

“Woah, Tetsu…!” Ken worriedly went over to tetsu, propping his hand over his friend’s back, trying to get his leader to lean back on the bed. The guitarist’s brows were furrowed in concern.

“Oooouch, ouch…” tetsu moaned in pain, as slowly his back went resting on the soft feel of his bed. He resorted to childish squeals of hurt, forgetting his age for quite a moment, “This really, really hurts!!”

“Of course, stupid” Ken said sternly, rolling his eyes as he finally got tetsu in place, “Your bones haven’t exactly healed yet, what do you expect!”

“Hai, oka-san” the bassist replied, adding a bit of sarcasm to his tone.

“Neh, tetsu, sorry for the Pocky, I couldn’t help it…” the drummer started but was cut off by their leader.

“It’s all right, Yuki, you can have it all if you want-” Ken gave tetsu a rather annoyed look, to which tetsu gladly ignored. Smiling warmly even if the small tracks of hurt lingers, “I'm not supposed to eat too much sweets, after all. Doctor’s orders” this was followed by another roll of his eyes.

“Oh really? Thank a lot tetsu!” the drummer smiled enthusiastically, taking another box from tetsu’s stash and ripping it open. He tried offering one to tetsu. The latter beamed at him, reminded his friend of what he just said then declined graciously. Yuki turned to their guitarist who just wanted to smack the man on the back of the head. “Well, it’s your lost!”

Tetsu’s hand went over to his mouth as a small giggle escaped his mouth. Ken just let his hand smack his forehead.

“So how’s everyone at the studio? I hope no one’s worked up…!” tetsu wondered out loud, “I hope no one’s worrying. I don’t want people to worry about this whole thing-”

“Oh and this coming from the biggest worry wart ever, such hypocrite words you speak” Yuki said, while waving a Pocky stick in the air, “You should’ve seen Hitomi-san when she heard the accident on the news. She was all over the place! And don’t get me started on Yoshida-san-”

Ken nudged Yuki painfully in the chest, “Just to cut Yuki short, what he means is that everyone at the studio are really worried. Actually, everyone wanted to come here today”

“Really?” the leader said surprised, “I mean, if they want to come, they can! This place is really, really dreary most of the time. If you consider having a nurse come once in a while exciting sure, but that’s all to it…”

“Ah, everything’s been busy at the studio lately, so it’s kind of hard for them to come by” Ken answered tetsu’s question, “But didn’t anyone come yesterday? The head nurse told me-”

“Oh yeah, Maki-chan came over and brought over some Takoyaki” tetsu smiled, remembering the taste of the sweet food on his mouth. “She makes really great Takoyaki!”

“Is that so? Well, that’s good to hear” Ken sat on tetsu’s bed, “Everyone at the studio wanted to give you this, they pooled some money just to get you the latest set”

“Wow! That is so nice of them!” the child in tetsu squealed in delight, opening the paper bag Ken handed him to see a bunch of manga all waiting to be read. He really appreciated the gesture, he never knew people at the studio cared enough for him to get him these. “They even wrote a note!”

“Ah, that looks like Hitomi-san’s handwriting” Yuki observed.

“ To our Ogawa-san, hope you recover fast! The studio really isn’t the same without our banana loving friend. We really, really miss you a lot. We know you might be bored out of your wits sitting all day in the hospital, so we thought you might like these mangas we got for you. Yoshida said you liked Hana Yori Dango, but we weren’t really so sure. So we got you these stuff instead.

Hitomi and the crew”

“Hana Yori…?” Ken snickered.

At the very end, there was a little sketch of a chibi tetsu near the sign. It was looking up at them with a very cute looking pair of puppy dog eyes.

“Ah… Arigatou, minna!” tetsu thanked them in spirit, very happy and touched how everyone at work pinched in to get him these comic books. He folded the letter aside, and pulled a book from the paper bag, trying to his excitement at the prospects of reading series.

“Eh?? Hanazakirino Kimitachi He?” his mouth went gaping, “What?? They bought me shoujo manga?”

Yuki laughed and pulled out another book from the stack, “They were just playing with you! This one’s an Evanglion and…” the Pocky loving drummer looked inside the bag, “There’s some Gundam there and even Death Note! Wow, I loved that anime!”

“Oh my god, I thought I was going to have a cardiac arrest. I do not want to spend my whole time here reading on shoujo manga”

“That would be complete torture!” Ken laughed for the first time during their visit, “I’d go crazy before the day ends if all I have are shoujo manga to keep me company!”

“Hey, I have you know Nana is a very good manga!” Yuki cut his friend, pointing a firm pocky stick at the other’s face, “You and your hentai!”

“Fine, fine, Nana is a good manga! Even though the ‘sex scenes’ were the reason it went to sell well. But if you think about it, the sex scenes weren’t quite as detailed as I want them to be-” the guitarist couldn’t say anymore as both yuki and tetsu cried ‘pervert!’. The drummer shoved the guitarist playfully off the bed.

“Hey, I'm just saying!” Ken raised his arms in defeat, though the smile was still glittering on his face.

It was a small bout of laughter and before they knew it, tetsu was holding himself again. He softly complained of the pain that interrupted their rounds of laugher.

“Hey, tetsu, are you all right?” Ken inquired.

“Yeah… yeah… don’t worry about me…” tetsu flinched.

“Now, now… slow down there, tetsu” Yuki said, with a smile that looked more worried than joyous. “Try to control yourself, unless you might die from laughing and the world’s going to have our asses for killing you”

Tetsu tried to twist his lips into a more mirthful expression, but the hurt was still there. And no matter hard he tried, it still come out as forced.

“Yeah, I should” the bassist said, a hand going over to his chest to try and at least massage the pain away. It hurts a lot. “You know, I just hope I get to heal soon… I'm so weak, no wonder it’ll take some time before I can heal”

“Oh come on, tetsu, it’s been a few days. You just don’t heal magically overnight, you know!” Ken threw his hands in the air to exaggerate his point.

“But I'm still here! It’s so unfair, then again Hyde’s really strong, maybe that’s why he can walk just a few days after the accident…”

Yuki and Ken stiffened.

“I wonder why Hyde just doesn’t go with you guys” tetsu continued, “I mean, it’s really fun if all of us are together, you know?”

When he looked at his band mates, he couldn’t help but frown himself. For a moment, the jovial states of their faces dropped and he saw the almost disappointed expression on both their faces. This happened the other day too when Maki was here. He just mentioned Hyde’s name and Maki looked at him as if he was crazy but didn’t say a word. Only that she had to go home because of some petty thing that came out of nowhere.

“Tetsu… did… did Hyde come over…?” the boy didn’t like how Ken chopped that small statement nervously. He wanted to know why everyone seemed so tense whenever Hyde gets in the conversation.

“Yes, Ken” tetsu said, almost gravely, “Hyde visits me… He visits me every night actually. I don’t understand why he couldn’t just go with you two. I mean after all, we’re all friend”

“Oh yes, yeah we are…”

He saw the colors drain out of the two’s face and without knowing it, his hand felt for the metal twin bracelet Hyde gave him. His fingers touched the cold metal prints over and over, studied it with touches.

Yuki could feel the dread starting to rise in his chest; he took a rather anxious glance at Ken. Their eyes met and he knew they were thinking the same thing.

“Hey, I heard the hospital has a great cafeteria down stairs-” the drummer started.

“But what about the food you guys brought? I can’t eat all of those, unless I want to die of diabetes instead!” the bassist joked, but the ice he made with Hyde’s name couldn’t be broken that easily. “They’ll be wasted-”

“Well, I just have this urge for some real food”

“There’s some more Pocky in the bag, you can have those-”

“Do you want coffee? There’s a vending machine by the Nurse Station, it’s not really that far away”

“Um, no, it’s okay. How about you, ken?”

“Uh, me?” Ken’s silent mood was broken, “I don’t want any”

“I’ll just go get myself some then!” Yuki forced an impish smirk that just didn’t come out right as he slipped out the door.

“What was that about?” tetsu asked, the hand that was playing with his bracelet has started to take nervous turns.

The guitarist sighed.

“It’s nothing, tetsu. Nothing at all that should bother you” Ken smiled warmly, hoping that would somehow convince tetsu not to worry. He didn’t like the way tetsu was doing his bracelet. Turning it round and round, feeling it with his hand; all done in a very distressed manner.

“I hope so” chocolate brown eyes all glazed with worry, “I hope you don’t blame him”

“What do you mean?”

“The accident, silly” a sad upturned of the lips, “I hope you don’t blame him for what happened”

“Of course I don’t”

“I hope so” tetsu bowed his head down, watching the silver sparkle under daylight, “Because even if I'm all battered and hurt, I don’t, Ken. I will never blame him”

Ken smirked, and let out a small angry whisper, “That’s because you love him”

“Excuse me?”

Ken shook his head, “Tetsu…”

“I don’t blame him, Ken, and that’s all that matters, right? I'm not angry. I know he didn’t want it to happen, I didn’t want it to happen” tetsu looked at ken hard, trying to decipher his friend’s expression. Hoping to get something from that face, a clue of some sort as to why everyone was treating Hyde this way.

“I hope you forgive him, it was no one’s fault. Not his, not mine; no one” tetsu smiled, “It was just an accident”

Funny, Ken thought, How you dismiss this as just an accident, and yet this accident almost cost you your life.

The guitarist was thankful his phone rang that very moment, giving him a valid excuse to get out of that very room.

“I guess me and Yuki will have to leave now” Ken said, trying to hide the sore feelings he has, “Yoshida-san is calling us-”

“Really?” the bassist replied all too sadly, that it almost broke Ken’s heart, “Well, I guess it can’t be helped then. Just thanks everyone at the studio for me”

“Yeah, I will” Ken stood up and was already walking to the door.

“One more thing, tell Doiha to tag along with you guys next time. It’s really nice when all of us are together. Will you do that for me, Ken…?”

There was silence, and Ken’s form didn’t move from the door.

“Please?”

“Yeah… I will”

Yuki looked at Ken, with silent mad tears running down the side of his face. As predicted by the guitarist, he never did go to that vending machine at all. They both couldn’t say a word. The drummer closed his eyes, bowed his head and bit his lip as hard as he can, almost ripping the skin on his lower lip.

“That bastard” was all he said.

Ken slowly wrapped his arms over Yuki’s shoulders, taking him in as he cursed over and over again.

“That fucking bastard”

The guitarist didn’t say a word, because he didn’t want the situation to grow worst. Because he can’t understand why tetsu was acting the way he way. Because to be honest, he didn’t really know what to say.

A/N: I wanted to call this 'The Butterfly Effect', but when I realized how the whole effect goes... I don't want to make a story called Butterfly Effect and not think about it thoroughly. So yeah. Harhar.
