Five Minutes
It took about five minutes, though he wasn’t sure because five minutes has somehow successfully stretched itself to an eternity. He was surprised when he looked at his watch and saw that it went around for a mere five times, and not more.
He couldn’t understand how on Earth a mere five minutes could glide ever so slowly, making it look like hours. Days. Weeks. Months. Years. Making it slither into more amazing time lengths that have reached infinity and beyond.
And the only actions composed in those five minutes were of him standing. The lights were slowly dimming on him, as someone from behind said the place was going to close in a few god damn minutes.
He heard a familiar voice call out his name, taking him away from his current train of thoughts. He looked back and saw one of his band mates; the other asked him if he wanted to partake in the usual happy hour of drunken madness that occurs after every gig they deemed as successful.
He smiled, but shook away the offer.
“Nah, not tonight”
“Ah? That’s too bad… I’ll just tell the others, okay?” his friend carried his guitar, “You take care now”
“Yeah, sure…” and with that, the other boy left running after his other buddies.
Hyde mused for a moment; they were obviously going to inquire on the absence of a certain guitarist. The mentioned guitarist sighed, what was he waiting for to begin with? What made him waste those five minutes of thoughts? What made him dedicate five minutes of life on something… that could be nothing at all?
“Hey, Hyde, you still here?” the owner appeared, pushing the tables aside but wiping them first, “It’s already past midnight and you know how the streets are at night…”
“Ah, I was actually planning to go out already… Sorry for bothering you, Fuji-san” Hyde scratched the back of his head, a small grin playing at his lips.
“No, nothing of the sorts boy, you know how everything works at night in these parts” the old man replied, “And that guitar behind your back might not be the best weapon around if ever anything happens to you”
Hyde actually dreaded the thought of having to flaw his guitar in the name of self defense. Truth be told, he rather use his own body to fend off any evil doers than have it the other way around.
“Thanks for the concern, Fuji-san” Hyde smiled, bowing a bit before going out.
“Now just stay out of trouble, is all I'm saying” Fuji-san called out, he crossed his arms over his chest, shaking his head a bit as he watched the young man stepping out into the dark. “Kids these days…” leaving him to wonder in memories.

It was so hot, it burned him alive eating up the entire cool from inside, out of his body. But Hyde couldn’t stop right now, now that he was on stage with his friends. Now that lights were glaring at him like a hundred, thousands tiny suns to devour him alive; he couldn’t stop picking at his guitar because of a minor discomfort.
The people screamed; all because they had to.
They came to see them play, so they watched them do what they did best. And along with the watching came the drinking, the singing, the screaming, the dancing and whatever things you do in a crowd.
Their singer pulled out lyric after lyric, his singing comparable to those of mediocre stands. A voice that could be blended with so many others, a sound that could easily be forgotten; but at least they had a leading man.
As they ‘rocked on’- according to the urban language- he couldn’t help but look at the small sea of faces. Each and every one had an expression; there were those who looked like they’ve been snorting up something illegal. There were the faces that looked so happy and dandy, almost as if their joy was real (Hyde couldn’t help but snort).
And there was the face that set itself apart.

Everything was born for a reason. Fate, kismet, destiny or whatever would never create a moment or second without having a cause to back up each incident in life.
And she stood there, the reason why he made himself stand inside after everyone left. She looked as if she was waiting for the stars to fall from the heavens that blanketed the evening canopy. She wore a simple shirt empty of a design, a pair of pants that had rips. Her red hair flew to the smooth breeze that whispered for Hyde to move forward and ask her name.
But he did nothing of the sort, the emotion of something new starting to bubble in the pits of his stomach. Hyde was under the swart shadows, covering him from bottom to top in inky black. The young guitarist wonders if that was enough to hide him while he gathers enough thoughts.
From his observation, the other looked in no hurry to move from where she was. Though the small fear of the night’s terrors did alight in her dark eyes; she stood on her ground firmly.
She looked at her watch, a bit worried at the time. The redhead proceeded to watch the now empty streets.
Then she looked at where Hyde stood.
… Looked over here…
Damn, it wasn’t that dark after all.
When she saw the boy, she looked as if the star she has been waiting to fall has finally reached the earthly floor.
So she hastily took the steps that began to destroy the distance in between them.
And when the space between them was a mere comfortable space, enough for talk; she spoke. “My name is Ogawa Tetsuya”
And the butterflies ran wild inside of Hideto Takarai as he heard that voice. The irony they produced; he should’ve known the chest was a bit too flat. But the darkness must’ve tricked him, he thought as the other babbled something about something and he realized… that his heart was running for dear life.
“… And I was wondering if you’d be interested in joining my band…”
Hyde felt giddy all of a sudden, as if he realized something as important as the answer to famine and world wars. He suddenly felt this weird notion, as if his spirit decided to jump out and leave his body to fall into a heap.
As if his heart has finally escaped cages of bones and flesh.
“… Ah, you haven’t said a word…! Are you still listening? I wouldn’t mind if you decline though…”
Then without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around Tetsuya’s waist, eliciting a sound of surprise.
Tetsuya was afraid he caught him in a moment where alcohol was in his veins. Tetsuya wanted to ask what was wrong.
The words never left his throat as Hyde placed his lips on the red head’s. The sweetest of red sprinkled itself on his cheeks as his eyes went wide like plates. He could’ve easily pushed the other away, but he found himself wrapping his arms around Hyde’s neck.
Tetsuya melted in that kiss. It felt so sweet to.
Then Hyde, slowly pulled back, he looked at dark orbs that were slowly coming out from behind eyelids.
He, without a doubt, stole Ogawa Tetsuya’s first kiss. For the first time of the night, he found his lips curve into a smile.
