Day 20 - Favorite kiss
Chuck tells Blair he loves her on "Gossip Girl." I did a lot of thinking about what kiss to choose here. I tried to think of which kisses I've watched over and over again. I've watched Cassandra!Rose kiss Ten in "New Earth" a lot, but it is, in the end, a fake kiss, so I felt it couldn't be chosen. I've watched Peter Carlisle kiss Natalie Holden a lot in "Blackpool," but that's just because David Tennant is hot, I don't actually even really like Natalie. I thought, for favorite kiss, it had to be a kiss that meant something to the characters and to me as a fan. Josh and Donna's first kiss on "The West Wing" made me squeal out loud because it was so unexpected, but I feel like that's exactly why I can't choose it as favorite kiss: I'd stopped believing Josh and Donna would ever be together, and it was lovely that they ended up that way, but their first kiss had lost a bit of the impact it would have had on me had it happened in an earlier season. So, in the end, I decided I had to go with this particular kiss on "Gossip Girl." Chuck and Blair are my favorite "Gossip Girl" couple, and I had been rooting for Chuck to tell her he loved her, and I was sure the show was going to go into the summer with Chuck in Europe, leaving us on a cliffhanger. And then he showed up, and I dared to hope they might actually let him say it, and THEN HE DID! And then they were so adorable! And they grinned at each other and giggled and kissed a lot! In the days right after that finale aired, I watched that scene many, many times, and it still makes me smile today. They're just so cute together, I can't stand it.
