Excerpts from the Travel Journal: Day Nine--Stratford to London to Boston

Oct 25, 2008 21:43

We had an early morning, sneaking out in darkness and driving to London as the sun rose and chased the fog. We stopped at a 24-hour rest stop that had one restaurant open, whose worker seemed bewildered that I wanted something takeaway rather than eating at the rest stop. I ended up with a breakfast sandwich that had potato on it, and it was ( Read more... )

What an unbelievably wonderful trip!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!

"And I've learned that I can be something other than a lawyer, that I'm not completely a lost cause, and I've actually made some progress toward figuring out how to go about doing that. I am, actually, the luckiest person on the planet. Or at least in the top ten."

I strongly suspect that you are on the top ten most talented list too. I know you brighten my day anytime you post!

It's been lovely seeing my country through your eyes and I will never quite forgive myself for not making more effort to find out who'd be in Stratford and Cheltenham at the same time as myself - to think we could have met up...

I do understand about the re-entry to RL after such a fantastic trip. I found 'Hamlet" life-changing in so many ways. And I hope you manage to work things out and find a life that fits you better. Good luck.

We're going to NYC for Christmas, that's the next big thing to get excited about!

Heh. I'm sure my very American views on things were very amusing. And yes, how weird to think we were both there at the same time!

Eventually I'll settle into a life that feels like mine instead of someone else's. I'm young enough that I have time still to find it, if I just keep calm about the whole thing.

Oh, NYC for Christmas! I *love* NYC for Christmas! You'll have the best time!

When Im having a bit of a bad time I too close my eyes and remember meeting DT. Indeed powerful and makes me smile.... A LOT! Glad you enjoyed your trip over here in the UK. I love opening up my laptop and reading your amusing view point of your trip and your thoughts of Britain. I laugh a lot! Thank you for sharing.
It makes me want to travel more here. I live in such a pretty part of the country but never take time to appreciate that or to go adventuring on my door step!

Im off to Canada soon but after the turn of the year Im off adventuring in Scotland... never been over to the west highlands. Which is daft really as it's not really that far. Cheers!

It is very powerful and smile-inducing! I'm very glad that you enjoyed the travel journal, and you *should* travel locally more. I seldom hang out just around my house, and I do regret that. Enjoy your trip to Canada!

I've enjoyed your travel journals immensely; I was sorry to see this entry is so short but reading it, I understand why.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed them, self-indulgent as they are!

It sounds like the most wonderful trip! I'm sure you could get plenty of volunteers for companions on the next one! I'm so glad it had the kind of clarifying power for you that you describe. I look forward to seeing what you do next.

It *was* the most wonderful trip, and I will totally run a trip to the UK anytime anyone wants!

"I look forward to seeing what you do next."

This is, somehow, the most lovely thing. It makes me think that I have something terribly exciting up my sleeve!
