Please pray or think good thoughts for Taiwan....
A typhoon hit on the 8th, Taiwan's Father's Day (Ba1 Ba Jie3, the number 8 sounds like the word for Dad, so 8.8 is considered father's day in Taiwan). Like Katrina before it wasn't the typhoon that was the problem... it was the water that came after it.
Right now a small mountain city is missing 600 ppl... It's been 3 days.
I've been sitting w/ my dad watching the news for the past 2 hours and I've been alternately horrified and heart broken.
Houses are literally being swept away by the mudslides that the heavy rain has caused. (the embed has been disabled) I watched on the news a 6 story building fall into the swell.... In 3 days Taiwan got a year's worth of rain, so you can imagine....
It's the worst flood Taiwan has seen in 50 years.... Entire families are being wiped out, familes of 10, 11 or more are just... disappearing. 小林村... omg this is just... omg. The story of 小林村... I can't even begin to understand or believe it.
A lot of my friends are in the south where it was hit the worst....
I don't even know what to say anymore. I'm... I'm in shock. Just listening to the news and being so far away to be able to help....

EDIT Until today (Wednesday in Taiwan) they haven't been able to get rescue workers up to 小林村 but right now they've rescued 5 ppl out.... A police officer said that there might be 150 up higher but... it's been 3 days and no sign of all these ppl.... Dear god.
