I can report last week's word count as approximately 600 words, all of which were written on my short story (yes, the one I'm talking about all the time). This is awesome. :-) It's not quite as awesome that I still haven't finished the first draft. But at least it's almost done. I can more or less see the shape of the story and while there are still some parts that need work, being able to recognize the overall shape is good. *nods*
When I finish the first draft (hopefully tomorrow because afterwards I'll be travelling until the end of next week and won't have time for writing), I want to send it off to some beta readers. Any of you interested in reading the first draft and telling more what works and what doesn't? (More on a general level, although at some point I'll need a language check, too.) I'm a bit hesitant to ask my usual beta readers because somehow I feel giving someone a piece of non-commercial fanfic is different to asking to beta read a story I'm eventually trying to sell - if you know what I mean? But if anyone wouldn't mind, I'd love to hear some opinions on my story. :-)
