It is amazing what Sherlock Holmes can deduce from people’s phones. All seems obvious when Sherlock tells him and yet John never sees anything on his own. Until one time:
“Sherlock? Is this for a case?”
“What does it look like to you?”
This sounds genuinely curious, so he tries.
“Brand-new phone, expensive brand, lots of features. Not something people would usually buy for themselves. A gift then, probably. But since it’s unused I can’t possibly tell anything about the owner.”
“Can’t you?”
When John turns the phone in his hands questioningly, he sees the inscription. “John, for practice. SH”
