Unlike Sherlock who claimed practice of every sort (apart from his violin, of course) was boring, unnecessary and dull, Mycroft had had a knack of exercising Japanese sword fighting since early adolescence; it was the most elegant and sophisticated form of fighting he had ever seen and not only stimulating for both his body and his mind, but also very useful in training universally important skills such as reacting to your opponent’s plans before they even could be put into motion, concentrating on all small details at the same time and focussing on the here and now without ever losing sight of future developments - and you could even practise it with your umbrella when waiting alone for a delayed appointment.
