London Trip: BAFTA television awards

May 30, 2012 23:05

After the first part of my London blog dealing with Sherlock Holmes locations, here comes the part about the BAFTA award ceremony. Again, I've chosen only the very best few of my pictures, so if you are interested in more or in high-resolution versions, let me know. :-)

As I've told you, me and my sister managed to get public tickets for the BAFTA television awards. So very excitedly we went there in the hope of meeting some stars attending. Sadly, although we'd explicitly been told not to ask anyone for an autograph, there wasn't actually a chance for asking since public guests and VIPs were very strictly separated throughout the entire ceremony. Well, so much for that...

Luckily, the ceremony itself was fun anyway. They even gave us little chocolate BAFTAs as a gift! :-)

Also, I'm pretty sure most of the public guests were Sherlock fans because whenever a video clip from Sherlock was shown, the cheering and shouting was so loud that one couldn't even understand the sound from the video. ^^ I hadn't expected such a lively atmosphere, so that was a nice surprise. Judging from the audience, it really remains a complete mystery how Sherlock could have lost the youtube audience award...

And even more luckily, some of my family had remained outside besides the red carpet to take pictures! So behold, here are the photos (and some of them are pretty awesome):

The (more or less) red carpet.

Terry Pratchett. Sorry, Sherlock guys - in order to compete with Terry Pratchett for the first spot on my picture list, you need to make at least 30 more awesome episodes... :-P

Mark Gatiss.

Rupert Graves.

Andrew Scott being adorable. ^^

Benedict Cumberbatch (he was so busy with all the fans and the press, it was really hard to get a picture of him).

And that's how it all looked from above where the public guests could watch the red carpet from a balcony:

You can see some more pictures from the red carpet on my sister's tumblr.

All in all the BAFTAs were huge fun, even without actually seeing any stars close-up (instead I met the lovely capt_facepalm :-) ). :-)
