For the purposes of the fic exchange, I was asked to turn on anonymous commenting, and did. Apparently, shortly thereafter, they were abused to flame one of our moderators, and that sort of rude behavior absolutely will not be tolerated, towards any of our membors. I was not there to see what happened, and the comments have since been disabled on that post, but until this situation is discussed further between me and the mods who witnessed it, there will be no anonymous commenting at
eames_arthur.
In the comments, you can argue for or against keeping it this way if you'd like.

After reading through the comments, I think I need to make something clear. I did not witness what happened. I have been busy with school and midterms for the last two weeks, and so handed off exchange gift posting duty to
ajokercard. I was not aware of what other things she was doing, because my time on livejournal has been very limited. I do not know what happened, but it was reported to me by the other mod,
chosenfire28, that she found the situation to be out of hand, and believed there were comments being made (both against and defending
ajokercard) that were unnecessary and rude. I do not know what was being discussed. I don't know what the problem was (or is), just that one of the mods (I'm not sure who turned off comments on that post) felt it necessary to delete the comments and then report to me.
I, personally, don't see a need for anonymous commenting. This isn't a discussion comm for the most part, it's a fanworks sharing comm. Anonymous commenting was only turned on a week ago, and now apparently there was a big situation, so I don't think having it on is worth the trouble.
I am waiting to hear back from both of my co-mods about what actually happened, but as of yet, have gotten no word. I am going to leave anonymous commenting off until I get all of this sorted out, and once that's done, I will consider turning it back on, but
eames_arthur has gone over half a year without anon commenting and no problems, and that is something that will affect whether or not I decide to turn it back on. I've been taking care of this comm, largely on my own, for a while, and I've been fairly hands-off, letting members post as they will. There have been very few problems this way, so I'm not sure if the problem is not so much the commenting, anon or not, but the mods and their actions in my absence. If the mods are the problem, I will deal with that separately from the anon commenting issue.
