Ignatius has had vile breath for months now. When we took him to the vet in June for his regular checkup, there wasn't anything really amiss with his teeth and gums. Last week Eldred bought some tooth wipes from Petsmart. They are basically handi-wipes with mint flavored tooth cleaner in them. When I tried to clean Ignatius' teeth, the wipe came away bloody. I thought this was not a good thing. I called the vet to make an appointment. They gave me one for Saturday at 11. I thought that was a bit unusual since they are usually busy on Saturday. It was more convenient for us so I didn't complain. Eldred and I arrived a few minutes after 11.
We finally got into a room over an hour later (they close at noon). They had several emergencies that took priority. Ignatius was not a happy camper. He cried the whole way there. We took him out of the carrier when we sat down. He immmediately tried to burrow under my arm inside my coat. He sat in my lap for most of the time, alternately panting, crying, and hissing. Poor baby!
It turns out he has one bad tooth and another going bad. He is scheduled for tooth extraction and cleaning on Wednesday. After he got home Ignatius cried and wandered around for quite a while. I guess his gums hurt from the prodding. I hope he feels better after the procedure and that his breath improves.
