Yesterday was a day off. I slept in really late, which was lovely. However, it delayed my start on my long to-do list. So, what did I do? Something not on my list that ended up consuming a couple of hours. It was worthwhile though. I turned the iPod to a
Future Talk podcast and cleaned the bathroom. I am trying to use parts of the
Flylady system, especially the zones. My goal is to spend 15 minutes per day decluttering and cleaning in that week's zone. I have done pretty few for the past couple of weeks. I can tell a difference!
This week's zone is the bathrooms. I decided to thoroughly clean. I did the mirrors with vinegar solution. I did all the mirrors in the house while I was at it. I then scrubbed the tub with Bon Ami and a scouring brush on a stick (good buy, that!). That's when I started obsessing. :-) I decided to take off the faucet knob for the shower. It's one of those plastic knobs that turns to go between hot and cold and control the amount of flow. Over the years, crud has built up under the edge of the plastic. So, I took it off and scrubbed it. It looks much better. I took the sink stoppers out and scrubbed them. Then I put baking soda and vinegar (always fun to watch) down the sinks. I even wiped the outside of the toilet and the baseboards. I still have to sweep and wash the floor. Then I'll feel accomplished!
Since that project took so long I ended up not taking the truck for its oil change. That will have to wait until Monday. I did do other errands. I went by the PO to mail Father's Day cards and pick up assorted denominations of stamps so we can use up all the old stamps I found during a recent cleaning frenzy. I picked up fuses and a puller from Advanced Auto. We hope the fuse is the issue with the headlight on the Subaru since a new bulb didn't work.
Then it was off to Goodwill for pants. I only found one pair and no shirts, but at least it was something. I stopped at Kmart hoping for Legos to cheer up Eldred. Nope. I did spot some organizing stuff that I'll go back for later. I went to Staples for a mondo DVD-R pack that was on sale for half price. While I was there I picked up a folding box on wheels to use for collegium. The trip to Home Depot for organizing stuff was a bust.
My last stop was the grocery store. The parking lot was almost full. Err? On a weekday at 6pm? I found a spot and ventured in. The place was swarming with worker bees. People were cleaning shelves and rearranging stuff. I got my few things and checked myself out (using my canvas bag, yay!). I had to go to the checkout line to buy a gift card. Ingles just opened a Gas Express with a $0.03 discount if you use their gift card. Since the price is competitive even without the discount, the card is worth getting. The person in front of me had evidently asked about the frenzy of activity. The checkout person said something about a pharmacy. I couldn't hear her well and didn't ask her to repeat it. I guess I will find out eventually. I did notice when I left that several of the cars had out-of-state tags - NC, GA, TN.
I spent the evening catching up on email since I hadn't been on the computer all day. I listened to some more podcasts while doing email.
Dryer Ball Update
I washed towels last night. I am happy to report that they seem softer than with the dryer sheets. Eldred concurred. So the dryer balls are a big success. Yay!
