Auction

This past weekend was our bigges fundraiser of the year at GUUF. I went about an hour before the silent auction started to help out some. I made my nifty poster board with photos of the GUUF timeshare for the auction. We inherited a week in someone's will and try to auction it off each year. It turned out that thanks to our resident techie, we had a camera and two screens for projecting images of the items. I gave him my flash drive with the photos so he could load them on this PC for showing. How cool is that! I think it really helped with the auction. It also added to the festive atmosphere.

I helped out my making last-minute extra copies of the catalog and bunches of copies of the addendum. I bid on quite a few items in the silent auction. I sat with a couple of women from the women's group for the live auction. I stayed for the entire thing then helped a little with cleanup. I ended up with mostly services so I didn't add a bunch of clutter to the house!

I made most of my purchases in the silent auction. I signed us both up for a spa dinner and the English Christmas tea. We have enjoyed the tea the past couple of years. This year they split into two types of tea - cream and Christmas. The spa dinner should be fun. It's a day at the country place of a couple of the members. They have hot tubs and a pool. Two massage therapists will be onsite. We get a choice of foot massage or chair massage or aromatherapy. Then we get a 7 course dinner with wine. Since Eldred doesn't like the massage idea and I don't drink wine, I asked if I could have his massage and he could have my wine. :-) I also signed Eldred up for a French country cooking dinner. I must have been thinking food because I signed up for a loaf of homemade bread per week for 6 weeks. I was intrigued by some of the options - sunflower millet, rosemary & marjoram, carob pumpernickel. I also ended up with two votive holders. They are standard little votive holder with a piece of stained glass in front with an inspiration saying. Eldred gave them the thumbs up. I also got some yin-yang earrings.

In the live auction I won 2 hours of one of our musicians. He plays jazz-classical piano. I had in mind that victoriapringle might like the idea of having a live musician at one of her parties. Then Eldred reminded me that she might not like his music. I may have to come up with an alternate plan. I could always give him to the folks who do the Indian Dinner. They would love it. I bid on the week at the GUUF timeshare, but it went higher than I was willing to pay. The weeks and weekends seem to do really well.

It was a fun evening. I saw lots of people that I don't see much anymore. I think we made a reasonable amount of money.

shopping, guuf
