Don't Bring Religion Into It!
I was out working some overtime this morning and pull a lady over on Miami for doing 51 in a 30. As soon as we stop she says "I'm not gonna lie officer, I was speeding". I appreciate these rare busts of truthfulness. Her excuse was that she was "late to a prayer meeting". She said if I let her be on her way she will make sure she prays for me.
I still need your license and registration, however. I go back to check her info and she has a couple of points on the license. For speeding. I return with her citation and tell her that "I see you have a couple points on your license already". "Oh no that's for a seat belt ticket.
No, actually it is not because they are non pointable offenses. "are you sure", I ask.
"well I did have a ticket, but that was a couple years ago" she sheepishly recalled, while munching on a mini can of Pringles.
I sent her on her way with a little bit of a break, but my general rule is if you have some points on the license, you are probably getting some more. First time in six years I have heard being late to prayer brought into the mix.
