"Just to get this over with quick (grin) A Live Journal friend won tonight's drawing, drawn by my elder daughter. She drew the number of
thelodge- who is the winner of the following prizes:
The prizes are as follows, in case the images aren't clear:
[Note there are pictures in his journal if you wish to see]
Cities of Light & Darkness - my poetry broadside collection signed by myself and artist Lisa Snelling.
My CD short story collection from Lone Wolf Productions - "The Subtle Ties That Bind," a collection of a lot of my earlier work. Each story has an audio introduction, and there is an audio version of myself reading my first published story, "A Charm Against Boredom". These are still for sale at www.lonewolfpubs.com - and they are a very good introduction to my work, if you don't mind reading from the CD.
Arguably the gem of this prize package: The Definitive Best Of The Horror Show. This is signed by a number of authors, I won't list them all here, but one is
docbrite - the book is lightly smoke damaged (singed at the page edges) but it's solid and readable and still attractive...just dingy at the edges. This is a gem of a book.
Deathrealm #14 - signed by me at the page of my story - "The Lost Wisdom of Instinct."
My short story collection "Spinng Webs & Telling Lies - including work by Brian Hopkins and myself together - and including errata sheets...this and the next book, "The Path of the Meteor," were never really released. They were "published" by a local printer to show off his process of POD, and he botched them pretty badly...but hey - they are ME and rare...so both of those are included - signed.
A slightly worn copy of Nina Kriki Hoffman's novel "The Thread That Binds The Bones" which I loved.
Two of my white wolf novels - Dark Ages: Lasombra and Exalted: Relic of the Dawn. Both signed.
Finally, there is a matte framed print of a piece I received long ago for The Tome, my long dead magazine. It was drawn by Ron Leming, and it is titled "The Black Door."
Congrats, Jerry. Hope this keeps you busy reading for a while!"
{jerry Note - Hell yeah this'll keep me reading!! I can not put into works how excited I am by this, it has made me month! Thank you Dave!!!}
Information about 50k or Bust:
"For those of you who have not been paying attention, don’t miss out. I will be writing a new novel during the month of November. The working title of that novel is "The Mote in Andréa’s Eye," and it will be at least 50,000 words long by the end of the month of November as part of the annual Nanowrimo challenge (National Novel Writing Month). I urge everyone to visit www.nanowrimo.org to see what’s going on, and if you are feeling generous, to donate to this year’s charitable cause. This year they will be building libraries in Cambodia this time around.
To make my participation more fun, and to give it some career significance, I’ve decided to make an event out of my participation. All this month I’ve been outlining and planning for this book. I am offering the rough, un-edited novel free to readers who sign up by clicking on the above button and subscribe to the yahoo group 50KORBUST, which I set up as a read-only newsletter style group to post my daily output to.
In case the chance to read my new novel as it’s created is not enough incentive for you, I am going to be holding a series of drawings. The first will be on the 28th, my birthday, where I turn.....29. (lol). I will hold one drawing on the 1st of November, as well, and at least one a week during the writing of the novel. The prizes will be autographed books, arcane texts, old semi-pro, pro, and small press magazines, and a number of other odd gifts that no one should be without (except me, once this is all over). At the end of the novel writing period, I will be holding a grand prize drawing for an autographed HC copy of either DEEP BLUE or THE TEMPTATION OF BLOOD, my two current HC releases. There will be a whole box of secret swag attached to this prize, but I’m giving away no secrets. I will announce what was won each time only AFTER I have mailed the box to the winner. The winners will be chosen at random by a drawing (my 9 month old daughter who can’t keep her hands off of things will be the person drawing them) She is not unbiased -- she believes herself to be the center of the universe. On the other hand, the books are, as of yet, of no interest to her, so she should be fair.
A quick note about the book itself. "The Mote In Andrea’s Eye" will be somewhat of a departure for me. It is not in any sense of the word a horror novel. It will be a thriller, not detectives, or serial killers, but something very different. Right off the bat some of you will recognize where some of the influence behind the book comes from -- those of you who’ve read this journal from the start, anyway. I don’t want to give anything away at all, so you’ll have to come into the process with an open mind. On the other hand, you also come in with the full ability to delete the entry daily and just wait to win prizes. I’m hoping most won’t do that.
Anyway, CLICK! SIGN UP! READ! this is my shameless way of actually getting some feedback on something. If everyone in this group sends a one word comment sometime during the process, it will become the one novel I’ve had the most feedback on."
