common sense

So, I found out last night that I had accidentally stolen almost all of my brother's chocolate. You may wonder how this could have happened. Well, you see, he left it all on the counter, so how was I supposed to know it wasn't public chocolate? At any rate, now I have to pay him back, evidently.

The moral of this story is: I like chocolate. Therefore, if you buy chocolate, don't leave it in public places, because I will find it and eat it all. Or, possibly I will find it, decide I don't want to eat it all at that moment, and hide it somewhere (e.g. under the bed, in a shoe, beneath a stack of other things) to ensure that no one else comes and eats it. You see, I prepare for the worst-case scenario, which, in this case, is "people want to steal your food omg." So, yeah. My argument was that I didn't have to pay him back because lack of common sense shouldn't be rewarded, but the mother says that doesn't fly. Whatevs, it was good chocolate.
