"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful." - Norman Vincent Peale
Went to the 11pm service last night at St. Peter's. I guess that continues to be the right one, as Larry pointed out that the two before it were filled with kids on the dual highs of sugar and anticipation, and I like it to be a little more "contemplative" as he put it. Now if only they'd change all the lyrics back... (Somewhere in my early teens they replaced the hymnals, and the current ones omit all references to Christ as male. It aims for being PC and inclusive but overshoots hard and painfully mangles most of the traditional carols)
Everyone seemed to like what I'd gotten them this year (so far; I still have one last set). As for me, I spent most of the day reading Stephen King's Under the Dome, which is both immersive and "club a seal"-grade hefty. I'm sure the Serenity book and Jak 5: Hooray for Airships will keep my attention once I finish that off, plus whatever I find to spend Dad's gift cards on.
I'll have to drive back up this afternoon for a closing shift tonight and then opening tomorrow. Campus is obviously a ghost town for a while so it's fairly boring. Hopefully once I get back I can pick up some of the pieces and get back to how I need to be.
