[The Carousel struck him as wrong, but then so did this place itself and many other things. In fact, he had little to know idea what was going on, to be honest, and that particularly annoyed him. But of course none of that showed on his face as he approached a familiar head of cream colored hair.]

Also… there is a strong barrier around the ‘City’ that prevents anyone from leaving.

I guess you are stuck here for the weekend. But, don’t worry… I’m sure Master Mage Clef and the others will share their apartment with you.

[Again the sheepish smile… he had been hoping not to have to explain that to anyone…

Since his arrival in the ‘City’ only a short time ago he had not been staying in an apartment. That took money after all, and he didn’t have any of the city’s currency… or the desire to waste the time looking for a job to acquire some. He had instead focused all of his attention on trying to find a way past the barrier in order to return to Cephiro. It this end he had been camping out in the cockpit of the FTO… against the advice of Umi, who had warned him of the dangers of being alone in the ‘City’. ]

That would be… a bit cramped.

[Eagle decided, leaving out all of the important information.]

But, I am sure they will be happy to see you. They seem to enjoy all of the visitors who come to the ‘City’ during these events.

[He knew Eagle long enough and well enough to know how to interpret much on little to no information. 'Cramped' was language not for he didn't want him there, but that he had no room, literally. Which meant he was doing something in the way of accommodations he should not be, but that wasn't the issue right now.]

I will see to them later. Right now, I need information on where I am, and so far you are the only person I know and trust.

[Eagle of course hide that thought… even though for a moment an uncharacteristic frown had appeared on his face. ]

What would you like to know?

[Maybe he had, but Lantis couldn't quite blame him for his reasoning. And in the end... well, in the end it had all worked out more or less. And if you knew Lantis at all, you knew he didn't hold grudges.]

I haven’t been able to learn very much about the barrier itself… It seems resistant to scans of any kind. But, the ‘City’ seems to have been built around a giant clock… with this carousel in the middle controlling the inner workings.

[He had to warn Lantis of the dangers as well… ]

The ticking of the clock exists on almost a ‘mental’ level. If one is caught alone they can hear the ticking more loudly than one can in a group… This ticking is also supposed to be able to drive a person mad if they listen to the noise for too long… so it is better to find a group to live with.

[Advise Umi had given him… that he had not acted upon… There are monsters in the woods and in the underground passageways beneath the city. If that isn’t enough there are creatures called ‘Deities’ that seem to take pleasure in unleashing curses upon the citizens. These curses can be something as mild as bringing you for a visit Lantis, or… much more dangerous. The ‘City’ also seems to affect one’s machinery and magic… causing both of these to become much weaker

[His silent as he absorbs that with the cool calm of a trained soldier. Honestly, being from Cephiro, half of that wasn't terribly odd.

[Eagle felt the need to mention the young lady since Lantis had been so keen on rescuing her from the NSX when she had been a ‘guest’ onboard. ]

Don’t worry! She is doing well too. The other two Magic Knights are taking good care of her, I’m sure.

[The news of the Magic Knights was reassuring, even the news of Hikaru. He had a hard time being honest with himself when he was around her, but he cared for her deeply, that much he knew. And he trusted Eagel's judgement of her state. The man was crafty, yes, but there were some things even Eagle would not lie about - not to him. He believed that.]
