[Lantis finally reaches the fountain and walks up to where Eagle is. He already has his sword out and ready. He doesn't want to fight Eagle but if there's not choice...]

[The one person he hates the most in the entire city, because, well, normally he loves you. ]

I was beginning to wonder when you were going to make a nuisance of yourself.

Eagle, you need to stop this.

[Already, he's glancing over at the fountain. He'll need to take care of that as well...]

I will. I’m going to end all of this Lantis. Won’t it be nice to finally escape this prison?

[Of course everyone would be dead but… details… ]

Not at the cost of people's lives. You know I won't let you do that.

I knew you would want to get in the way Lantis but, since I had always planned to kill you before setting off the bomb anyway…

[Why do his smiles look so darn creepy today?
Eagle‘s laser sword is willed from the metallic device that houses it. ]

[He grips his sword tighter but doesn't raise it just yet.]

Then come and kill me.

[With a final cute smile then, Eagle charges. But… that was what you wanted him to do wasn’t it? Oh no, he isn’t going to be quite that predicable.
This was a feint. Eagle charges just until it looks like he might bring his sword up to strike at Lantis but instead he switches tactics midway through his strike, using the device to fire a bolt of energy at his opponent instead of using the sword against him. ]

[Lantis lifts his sword quickly and summons a shield to protect himself with causing the energy to smash into it. He grinds his teeth together. He doesn't want to fight Eagle but if he has to...]

Eagle! You're cursed! This isn't like you!

[Eagle smiles noticing Lantis had to use a shield just then. That really was an expected response. ]

I have always hated you from the moment we first met. Haven’t you ever noticed how much I have been wanting to kill you?

[Some how he actually believes these words today as he slashes as Lanits once his shield weakens. ]

[Dodging to the side, he spins around to look at Eagle again.]

No. It's a curse.

My hatred is a curse for you.

[Eagle is already angling for a better position. So when Lantis looks back at him he must swiftly find another way to dodge or risk being struck by a second attack. ]

[Trying a different tactic, he shifts just enough to let the blow graze his shoulder as he rushes straight at Eagle.]

[His blow hit! But there was no time to enjoy the feeling as Lantis was rushing ‘tank-style’ right for him. There was no time to dodge, all he could really manage was to will a shield of his own to appear.]

[Pressing against the shield with his sword, he wills his sword to be stronger as he uses his superior size to his advantage. Or at least, that's the intention. If it means taking down Eagle before he does something he regrets then he'll do it.]

[Eagle actually has to grit his teeth and consciously focus on keeping that shield in place. Lantis was putting a good deal of force on it but it had to hold until he was ready! He would not allow Lantis to win!
Clearly he needed a new plan… Even in a battle of wills he wouldn’t be able to keep that shield up forever. If Lantis wanted the shield to drop so badly, why not allow it to? Eagle gave the shield up, pivoting away from where Lantis’s sword would make its impact at the same time. With all the force Lantis had been putting into that attack, Eagle expected him to be off guard for just a moment as the resistance in front of him disappeared. He would need time to adjust to the new situation and recover from his own momentum. A chance to strike! ]
