*COUGH*

This turned out to be much longer than I intended, so... cut!

Well, it's been about a week since the end of BLFC. I'd have made a summary post sooner but the minute I stepped off the plane after we landed in Denver, I could feel a familiar soreness in my throat. Crud. I figured that I didn't have to go back to work on Thursday, so it should be gone by then. This sickness was a bit of a sleeper because I felt mostly well enough that I went to work as planned Thursday night. By the time I hit the end of my shift, I was absolutely miserable with coughing, fever, congestion... all the works. I called out on Friday completely. I thought I'd be better the next day, so I went ahead and told my supervisor that I'd be a go for Saturday night. Boy was that a huge mistake. While I felt fine going in, something about the air in that place absolutely irritated my dry cough to the point where I could not be productive. I developed another fever, and I was seeing double. It was bad anough that I could not drive, and had to get a ride home (I have the best boyfriend in the world). My coughing fits were so bad that I was apparently hyperventilating in the car. I got home, and collapsed onto the couch, and fell right the fuck to sleep. My fever is gone, but I'm still stuffy and coughing though, mercifully, the coughs are not longer dry. So, that's been great.

In any case, BLFC! Getting there was a bit of an adventure because dragoncrescent only got about 3 hours of sleep, and I decided that it would be fine to get zero hours of sleep, since I hadn't managed to flip around my schedule by that point. In all the times that we have flown out from DIA, I have never had to wait in a security line for more than ten minutes. I am so glad that I still plan under the assumption that a trip through the security line will take an hour, because that's exactly what happened. We managed to get through the line, and took the train to our gate, where we found the doors had already closed. Thankfully, they were able to let us in, and the plane was already at about half capacity (probably because half of the passengers were still in the security lane.)
We flew to Oakland, spent about twenty minutes there, and then took another twenty-eight minute flight to Reno from there.

We landed at 9:45, I picked up the rental car, and we headed on over to the liquor store to pick up some booze, then to Wal-Mart shortly after to pick up some food. We were fortunately able to check into our hotel room early, which was a blessing, because I was pretty exhausted. I think I maybe got a small nap in before I was stirred awake while our roommates arrived. I then headed downstairs to pick up my badge. Jesus, that convention's registration system is a clusterfuck. I spent more than two hours in line, and that combined with sleep deprivation made for a very grumpy cheetah. It was made slightly better by a burger shortly thereafter. Later in the evening, we hit up a room party being hosted by one of the local furries in CO. I somehow got roped into serving booze for the event, which I was fine with, because it forced my introverted ass to actually talk to people.

The rest of the weekend honestly was a blur. It wasn't unpleasant like my last experience. I actually went to some panels, and ran into one of my friends that I had known from my catcollection days, which was fun. Spent much of my mealtime hanging out with friends from RMFC days, including one night at the unfortunately-named restaurant called "Rim". (we're going to RIM the restaurant hrr hrr hrr)

Ran into a various smattering of NM Furs, and played lazertag with a few of them on Sunday evening, which was quite a bit of fun. The remainder of that evening was spent going to the swimming pool, realizing that it's too fucking cold, and then retreating to the hot tubs. Shortly after that, we joined some friends to try to help them demolish some of their booze. I made a bit of a dent making just cranberry juice and vodka. I maybe got a little bit passed buzz with that, and retired to bed shortly after that.

On Monday, we packed up our stuff, and threw it into the rental car. We had a lot of time to kill before our flight left, so we decided to hit up Lake Tahoe, which is really not that far from Lake Tahoe at all. This may have actually been the highlight of the weekend for me. My god, that place is gorgeous. We parked at a place called Secret Cove (not very secret, there were lots of cars) and then took a very scenic hike to an (apparently clothing optional) beach called Secret Harbor Beach, which was absolutely beautiful. I didn't care about the nudies, there were only a few there, and also a couple of very confused-looking families. I wish I could have spent more time there. Maybe next year, we'll fly to San Francisco, and drive to Reno from there.

We took a scenic route back to the airport, and were soon on our way. The flight out of Reno was late to leave, which made rushing to our gate in Las Vegas a little stressful. The flight to Denver was uneventful until we hit a snow storm. Holy shit, I have never had a more harrowing experience in an airplane. Literally could not see outside of the windows, and when we landed, I thought the plane was going to tumble on its side. Thankfully, we landed safely, it just took us an hour to wait in the de-icing line before we were finally able to taxi in. Our luggage was awfully late and awfully wet by the time it got to us. Meh. The parking bill for the weekend was pretty terrible, but I was actually grateful that I decided to use the parking garage. The snow was absolutely ridiculous.

So in summary, The flu sucks, DIA is capable of being horrible, BLFC was fine, Lake Tahoe was amazing, landing in a plane during snow sucks, and apparently pup costumes just don't do it for me. All in all, I guess I'm pleased with my vacation.
