i guess i should make a public post update cause 95% of my posts are friends only.. so add me as a friend to read!! this is from my myspace alittle bit ago, but i'll post it here cause it's an update!! =)
Things here are awesome...it's soo great to know that I don't have to pack my bags and leave in a week to go back to school. What a relief to be DONE! I am just so very content with life and how everything is going. We are taking a mini vacation September 17th - 23rd so that is def a very nice way to end our summer!!
So what's new? Well, let's see. Hubby and I adopted/rescued two dogs, Riley and Jade. We got Riley in June and he is a 2 year old terrier mix. SO adorable... he is such a little cuddle bug. He was a stray and was picked up after almost getting accidently hit by a couple different cars on a major stret in town. My poor baby! I'm so glad he's safe with us and is a part of our family now. Jade joined us in July, she is a 6 month old great dane. She was brought to HSOY cause she was getting too big for her family that she was with. The family only had her for 6 days before they brought her back. That just broke our hearts cause she is a sweetie baby, so of course she had to come home with us! She and Riley are crazy about each other, which is great. They are best buddies! They BOTH sleep with us at night lol... it makes it pretty interesting to say the least. We love them to pieces, although our Bubba will always have a special place in our hearts.
My sister Amanda came out to visit for a week in July and it was fabulous! The three of us had a great time...we went to the beach twice since we live pretty close to San Diego and she made me jump into the pacific with her. I was terrified of sting rays and it was freezing lol, but I'm glad I did. I miss her soo much every day, but we talk on the phone at least an hour a day so it makes it a lot better. I'm hoping to bring my brother out in December during his winter break so he can check out the house and everything. I miss him as well, but we talk on the phone and email so it's been good =) I know the three of us will always be close no matter what we are doing or where we live <3
I'm hoping to come home to see everyone in October!! It depends on my job and when I can sneak away to visit lol. I'm sure it won't be a problem. I can't wait to see everyone!! I am going through wawa withdraw, for real. There's nothing like a toasted turkey and cheese hoagie with mayo and tomato. yummm. Yuma has some pretty cool things too, though... like Jack in the Box, Sonic, Carl's Jr and In & Out Burger. They are all very yummy!
Although I miss Philadelphia a LOT, I do have to say I absolutely LOVE Arizona, especially where we live. The northern border opened up in July, but we didn't put in for it. Not right now anyhow...maybe next year or so, and if we do, we are shooing for New York, up in Oswego County. For right now though, we both are in agreement that we want to stay for a while longer. I am so happy out here, it's like another world. Not to mention I absolutely adore our house and making it our own. We are definitely going to have an in-ground pool by next summer, so that is going to be amazing!!! I can't wait, they break ground in March of 09! We wanted to have at least a year in the house and since the summer is just about over now, we decided to wait til next spring. I didn't realize how damn expensive pools are!! But they will just add it to our mortgage payment and it doesn't increase it that much, so we lucked out there! The pool people said you can pretty much use a pool down here until around October, so we are going to get a lot of use out of it!!
The weather is neat too... it is so beautiful and sunny during the day, the sky is soo blue sometimes I think I can see the outer-atmosphere or something lol. At night, it is soo quiet and peaceful...you can see the most beautiful stars. I just stand out back when I let the dogs out and look up in amazement. They are so bright… I think there are a few planets we can see too. I know on some nights I can see either Venus or Mars, not sure which. And the sunsets...wow. It's so flat to the west that the colors just explode into a hundred shades of oranges, reds, and pinks. Then the color bounces off the Gila Mountains to our East and it is just incredible. No picture could ever do it justice. We don't get rain often, but we have gotten a couple thunderstorms this summer (the few times we have them are always in the summer). No rain because of the way we are situated near the mountains-- just thunder, lightening, and tons or crazy wind/ sand storms. It's like a scene out of The Mummy when that guy turns into a giant tornado of sand lol. The lightening bolts are insane, I can see them for miles. It's actually pretty damn scary lol. One night I was coming home and the thunder was so loud it was almost shaking my car!! As for fun things to do, the Colorado River is just 15 minutes away, so you can go boating, water skiing, or tubing (we are counting the days til we get a boat!!!). Or 40 minutes away up at Martinez Lake, you can go swimming or boating as well. It's neat how it's so desert-y but there are so many water-related things to do at the same time.
So I really love Yuma. We have made so many new friends here. Most of them live in our neighborhood and are Border Patrol families as well. We have BBQs and get togethers that are so close to us that we can walk there (usually right down the street). I've also met some very sweet Marine wives who live around us (one of who just got her husband back from deployment... yay!!!). There is usually a good mix of us when we go out so it's fun. I have a ton of respect for all military ladies and their hubbys! There are a lot of military families here between the national guard, YPG (Army), and the Marine Corps Air Station. It's pretty cool cause we all blend together well.
The weather hasn't been too hot... not at all like last summer where it was hitting 117 for weeks in a row. It's been hanging around 110 or so, not too bad. It sounds worse than it is. The sun is a killer but in the shade it's not bad... it's very dry, still hot as hell, but you don't sweat with that muggy, heavy feeling. I really do love the southwest and I am REALLY looking forward to the fall/winter here. It's starting to really cool off at night and it makes me excited!! Last year I had to go back to school, but this year I get to experience what Yuma is known for-- the amazing 65 degree weather all winter long. I can't wait!!
Hmm, what else? Our one year wedding anniversary came and went already, how fast a year flies! I still can't believe we will be coming up on 6 years together. This past year has been unbelievable...I never thought a marriage could be so much fun and so incredibly easy! haha I know, I know...wait 10 years then come talk to you... lol. I can't see us any other way though. From the very start of living together in our first apartment over four years ago, we get along so well it's freaky... even now we hardly ever argue, who knows why. We just mesh well I guess... we also love doing it all on our own and have created this life from scratch together, so I think that formed a very special bond between us ever since we were younger. I think the other part is that we always have a lot of enjoyable times together, whether it's sitting on the couch chilling out watching a movie together or going out... it's never a dull moment. Most of our time is spent laughing and joking, which I love. No matter what kind of day we both had, we know that here at our home base everything is perfect. It's refreshing to know that home is always waiting for me. At the end of every day, it comes down to family and that is something we cherish. Oh annnnd a quick tidbit while I'm on the subject of family, we are aiming to have an addition some time next year, probably around the fall/winter of 09. So by the end of next year, there may be three of us
I just hope and pray that we will be lucky enough to experience such a beautiful thing!! Needless to say, I feel VERY blessed and excited right now! And I feel even luckier that not only do I get to spend forever with this man, but I also don't have to be apart from him anymore either!! I am so thankful every day that the whole me in PA/him in AZ thing is over cause two years was more than enough to have to miss him lol. Even though it has made us appreciate everything so much more, I am definitely loving the married life together! I still get chills when he introduces me as his wife or when I get to check the "married" box on a form...it sounds so silly, but it makes me so excited & I highly doubt that it will ever get old. I think cause I was looking forward to it since we were like 17 lol. I just can't wait to see what our future holds, I know it will be full of beautiful things cause we are both firm believers that life is what you make of it. & we are planning on making it a hell of a good time!!
Well, I want to add more but I'll save that for next time cause I have to let the dogs out!! If you got this far, thanks for reading! lol. i am just living life and having a fabulous time doing so!!
