Cyclocross race done!

Chicago Cyclocross Cup event #2 is officially done! I took part of the 4B race and had a blast. Some of the guys from a team I am looking to join were out there cheering me on after they finished their earlier races. I did crash once during a turn, there were these pesky little small acrorn thingys laying around. It set me back but I wasn't in it to win it. I wanted to get a feel for what cross racing was. I wasn't really able to study the layout of the course or do a trial run. I just came into Dekalb with a wing it mentality. The Flyover went very well, dismounted went okay, remounting was okay, but clipping back into my pedals needs improvement. Most of the race I was isolated from everyone else so it made everything a lot easier. There were parts of the course I was uneasy about, riding aross hills is not something I like to do compared to riding up and down hills. I felt as if I was not careful I would have slid down into a fence separating the course from the tennis court. I am glad it was not rainy otherwise I probably would have twisted something.

As seen in my previous post, there are fun parts of the 4B race. During my first lap these kids were offering donuts. I would have taken one but with my mouth dryness due to radiation I passed on it. During my dismount coming to the stairs on the flyover I was offered by 20 people some form of alcohol. Also an advantage of being secluded from the rest, I get a open choice of what I want. I passed on every offer, which caused the crowd expressing their disappointment. Stairs + carrying my bike + alcohol in the other hand = bad news. Going through the underpass of the flyover I attempted to grab a shot but it dropped! Split second later I grabbed the first thing I saw and with success, some crappy tasting beer was hitting my lips as I continued to chug and pedal. The crowd cheered in appreciation. During my second lap I encountered the kids offering donuts again. Except this time one was "holding" out a dollar. I would have grabbed it but it wasn't in a place I want to grab it from, especially since the kid was about 10 years old. All I heard was "dollar in my butt, dollar in my butt" and there it was, a kid with a dollar bill sticking out of the waistband of his pants sticking his ass out for me to grab. Thanks kid, but me taking that dollar would risk my reputation and label me a pedo.

My bike ran great. Loved it. Needs a little tweaking here and there but nothing huge. My internet isn't nice tonight so I will post up pics next post, or you can look at my facebook.
