Title: Entertainment
Prompt: All the world's a stage
Word Count: 158
Rating: K
Original/Fandom: Hunger Games
Pairings (if any): some Finnick/Annie if you squint
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/RPF etc): none
Summary: Finnick gives Annie some advice
“You have to remember that this is all just entertainment for them, and they expect the best from their actors,” Finnick tells her.
“I’m not much of an actress,” Annie says.
“You’ll have to learn how to be fast. From the moment you were reaped, you’ve been expected to amuse them, and the better you are at doing that, the more likely you are to succeed.
“I have to go now, but remember that for the chariot rides. That’s your first test, although your private session and interview will be even more important.
“Don’t worry though; I can help you. I’ve learned plenty in the years that I’ve been here.”
He gives her bright smile and then leaves.
Watching him walk out, Annie wonders why he is being so attentive. His mentoring could be put to much better use elsewhere. People like her don’t win the Hunger Games after all.
Perhaps, Finnick was just practicing his own acting.
Title: Shadows
Prompt: In the shadows
Word Count: 147
Rating: K+
Original/Fandom: Snow White
Pairings (if any): none
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/RPF etc): implied child abuse
Summary: Snow White learned fast when it came to her stepmother.
Snow White had learned fast when it came to her stepmother: keep to the shadows.
Originally, she could not have been happier when her father revealed to her that he was remarrying. Her own mother had died shortly after Snow’s birth, and in the intervening years, she had conjured up many fantasies about her mother.
Certainly, this new wife of her father’s would fulfill every one of her dreams, and it would be like they were related by blood.
But her hopes were quickly shattered. Although her stepmother smiled prettily to her father’s face, she had no use for Snow and no desire to hide it. She did have a taste for pain though.
So, Snow White took to the shadows; her dark hair blended in, and her pale skin was cast in shades of gray. Until all but her stepmother seemed to forget her very existence.
