Since
Comic-Con is this week, I have decided to post a few comic book topics I find interesting.
Recently while surfing the web, I have come across two sites on blogspot.
Fraggmented is a must read for me because the author has taken the time to give a brief description on various Essential and Showcase trades. Because of his reviews, I now have a guide in which paperbacks I should purchase. For me I can only imagine how his bookshelf would look like with all those collected black and whites paper backs.
Another site that caught my interest is,
Occasional Superheroine. This author posts various subjects that she finds interesting. One of them had to do with the new poster by
Adam Hughes "The Real Power Of The DC Universe.",
which got me thinking. What testosterone drive, tuxedo dressed characters would I love the see as a DC poster. Here is the list:
Bruce Wayne,
Clark Kent,
Lex Luthor,
The Joker,
Barry Allen,
Hal Jordan,
Ollie Queen,
Arthur Curry,
Carter Hall,
Ray Palmer. Since Hughes added an 11th character in
Selina Kyle, my secret favorite would be
Vic Sage.
I meet Hughes at San Diego last year. It was late in the day and you could tell he wanted to get out of the convention. This reminded me of
Robert Kirkman. Do you see a resemblance?
VS
Kirkman might look mean, but he seems like a really nice guy. But in
Seattle, on the very last day he seemed pissed off at something so I spent all of 10 seconds saying high to him.
I would love to see someone like Terry Dodson do an evening gown poster for Marvel. The down and dirty side of me would wish for a swimsuit poster seeing as how it is summer. But swimsuits are becoming more and more frequent so a change of direction is always nice. I would love to see these Marvel heroines in a poster:
Susan Storm,
Elektra Natchios,
Amora,
Wanda Maximoff,
Jennifer Walters,
Janet Van Dyne,
Natasha Romanova,
Shanna Plunder,
Ororo Munroe,
Mary Jane Watson. Here is a cover from the recent Uncanny X-Men by Dodson which shows off his illustration of women:
I hope everyone will take sometime off this summer.
