Lost Before the Dawn

*Kind of a song fic. If that's not your thing, just skip the Italicized lines and it should still make sense.

The cacophonous sounds of spirited conversation and jovial laughter reverberated off the stone walls of the lavishly decorated Great Hall as revelers partook in the sumptuous feast and overflowing wine of bacchanalian proportions. Large ( Read more... )

Oh wow! I don't normally like song!fic, but this was truly fascinating. I'm curious to get more of the back story now. I really like how you've set this up, that's for sure. And I had tears in my eyes at the description of Regina when Emma found her. *hugs the woobie*

Yay thank you! I'm a little iffy on song fics too. I've written them, but I tend to prefer to have the characters singing than just throwing a song in there. But like I said, this is how it played out in my mind and I thought the song was perfect for it and very fitting. Describing Regina broke my heart too. The poor thing. We'll learn more about what happened to her there as the story develops as well as how they returned and stuff. But for the most part it'll focus on them finding a safe place to just be together and how the folks of FTL find out and what they do and stuff. It has potential at least.

Yeah,I feel the same way. Or I've done CD challenges and/or used lyrics as a chapter header/quote kind of thing. I really should do a CD challenge for Swan Queen, just can't figure out what CD I want indelibly "ruined" to that pairing forever. LOL!

I just had my lower lip hanging out when I read that description of Regina. I love my woobie and seeing her all broken and shit kills me.

And yes, I honestly can't wait to see what else you do with this, because I'm totally sucked in already.

I feel ya on the cd thing. All the songs I've used for stories always make me think of them. Like Arms by Christina Perri. I did a Rizzles story with that and I always picture it in my head when I hear that song. Most of my fics have some musical element to them. Caught in the Grey is an icon for hire song. Lost Before the Dawn is another Evanescence song. And there are a few more that will be introduced in Grey that are from We are the Fallen. Music inspires the muses.

Very interesting start. I'm curious to see what happens next and what led up to Emma and Regina having to sneak away.

Also, a little disturbed at the treatment Regina received.

I have a plan for how i'm going to show the back story. Still working it out in my head, but why they had to sneak away will be explained. Regina had a rough time, that's for sure. Sometimes the 'good guys' aren't exactly 'good'. If you know what I mean.

I've never really been able to figure out why Evanescence didn't release Anywhere with their debut and as a single, it's hands down the best they've done and a favorite song of mine as well. Great use of it here.

Sweet and sad, but well crafted. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I absolutely love this song and just HAD to use it in something. And well... this is what came out. lol. I agree that they should have released it on Fallen. It's one of their best songs ever. I'm also partial to Lost Before the Dawn from the same album, hence the title. There is a continuation planned for this sometime in the future so keep an eye out!
