I've been combing through
The Leaky Cauldron's page documenting the WB/JKR vs. RDR Books trial, as objective of an information archive on this topic as one could find on the 'Net. The case has made headline news occasionally, I think, what with WB's fame and JKR's fanbase. If you're unfamiliar with the situation, here's a quick summary: Huge HP fan

Thanks for posting on my blog. Actually it didn't take me but 2 minutes to pull the info on David Hammer. As an attorney myself I know where lawyers tend to post their profession resumes. I think its funny you think he should be fangirled. He visited my blog. He seems like a humble guy.
I think it is interesting you found the posters at Leaky knowledgeable. I found them particularly ignorant. They were also quite insulting. People asked me questions about the legal process because I was an attorney then told me I was wrong once I gave an answer. The didn't like the fact that I felt based on the law WB/JKR didn't have an iron clad case. I stopped posting a while ago and stuck to commentary on my own blog.
I have a feeling this case will settle prior to the verdict. I don't know if you picked up on it but the trial showed some pretty serious weaknesses in WB/JKR case namely the expert testimony was thrown out. Which is detrimental in a "battle of the experts" case like this one. This is not something that can be corrected on appeal. Anyway the verdict if they don't settle should be coming soon. So this should be extraordinarily interesting.

As for the two sides reaching a settlement, I'm surprised they haven't already done so. They did settle the issue of false advertising before the trial began, with RDR and SVA altering the cover of the Lexicon manuscript; I wonder that they didn't go further? JKR testified in court that she wouldn't be opposed if the book was rewritten, and RDR gave out news statements suggesting he might be willing as well. Is it WB that has been refusing to settle then?
Hmm. But if they do settle, then this area of copyright law will remain as "murky" as ever, and the next judge/jury will still have to draw a line somewhere.
Now for the important part. ;) David Hammer visited your blog? This is almost like touching my favorite celebrity's kleenex!! XD I'll refrain from hyperventilating, but I'm really having trouble refraining from bombarding you with questions. Did you speak with him? Well, he refused to talk about the case when asked by a news reporter, so I don't think he would now, but maybe he was dropping by to see what online opinion is? Oh, I'm making no sense. And possibly scaring you, lol.
I tried a quick Google search again yesterday and a link to his website (with his resume/credentials) turned up right away, so I'm a little bewildered why I couldn't find anything before. But I'll stop before I dig myself into a deeper hole.
Thanks for stopping by!
