Tue 21 Mar night
I went to a seminar that QUT Prof. Andy Arthurs was presenting on a project of his - 21st Century Orchestra: Research and Development into a Sustainable Model (something like that :P). I met Andy back when I was first trying to get into uni and then talked to him again when I was into film music and he’d done some. I re-acquainted myself with him because I’m very interested in new ways to keep classical music, particularly orchestras, alive. So his project addressed some of the issues with orchestras the way they are now and the concept of a new type of orchestra - creating a spectacle for ppl to see (instead of listen to at home). Basically he wants to add multimedia, lighting and take away the stands and conductor thus updating the orchestra the way Cirque du Soleil has updated the circus.
It’s interesting but we’re all not sure if it’s sustainable. But hell, things the way they are now don’t look sustainable either so trying something new is good.
I also ran into a lady at the seminar who keeps cropping up in my life every couple of years. It is Brisbane :P
After listening, participating and schmoozing, I rushed home to grab my violin and a snack and raced off to orchestra rehearsal. It went fine tho I was blabbing too much so now they know I’m a composer and a concert organiser :P I have no more time to give though!

Finally finished dinner at 9.45pm - what a day.

I had my performance review at the call centre today. It all went well enough and I’m lucky that I’m available the days that I am cos it fills a lull even though I’m available for so little time.
Got a full w’end ahead!
