GOP's War on American People: Death Panels Edition

Jan 14, 2017 17:46

The GOP is determined to destroy the ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, and Planned Parenthood, as part of dismantling the "social safety net" that replaced the robber-baron attitudes of the 19th and early 20th century.   It does not matter to the GOP Congressional members that the same social safety net benefitted their families and themselves since the ( Read more... )

My mom voted for Trump because Hillary didn't kick Bill out of the house when he started fooling around. My dad voted for him because he didn't trust a woman who spent her life in public service versus a man who spent his life making money for himself and putting his name on any building that he could.

When my wife and I went to my parent's for Thanksgiving, dad was in the hospital. He made a comment about being concerned or thankful for his health insurance, so I made a comment about Trump and he shut up. It'll be interesting to see what the Republicans do in a couple of weeks to Social Security and what he thinks then. I suspect some buyer's remorse.

For me, I'm kind of screwed. I have an immune disorder that requires weekly infusions of immuneglobin. It runs $3-5,000 monthly without insurance. If insurance companies are allowed to run rampant, they'll put me in a high-cost bracket and probably jack our rates to unbelievable levels. I've been unemployed for over six months now, I interviewed Thursday for a school librarian job that pays $9 an hour. I'm sure that'll cover the difference.

If I don't get the meds, I probably have 6-12 months before I become a home body and basically have to self-isolate. Which means sometimes living in the guest bedroom, away from my wife, when she has the sniffles, because she'll have to work and do all the shopping and ....

I had pneumonia five times in seven months in 2009, prior to that we didn't know I had this condition. For just over a month I've been fighting a sinus infection that wants to become a lung infection, I'm on two antibiotics right now and I expect another to be added when the second one finishes the middle of this week.

So this is how the Republicans will fuck me over and personally kill me if they remain in power and the Democrats can't fix things. It all depends on how badly the RNC breaks things.

I'm so sorry. You're in a terrible fix, along with many other people.

I am sorry, chronic illnesses are quite bad enough to live with without the extra worry of how you are going to pay for your health care. Hope the antibiotics help stave off the pneumonia.
